How do I address mail to an inmate? ›

Address the envelope.

On the first line, write the inmate's name and number. On the second line, write the physical address of the prison, or the P.O. box where the prison accepts inmate mail. On the third line, write the city, state, and zip code.

All incoming enveloped mail, postcards, books, newspapers, and periodicals must be delivered through the U.S. Postal Service, FedEx, DHL, or UPS. All incoming mail must be properly addressed with the inmates name and booking number and be mailed to: P.O. Box 6929, Ventura, CA 93006.

ALL INMATE MAIL IS PHOTOCOPIED INCLUDING PICTURES. No original mail is given to the inmate. Originals are stored for 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks). If the originals are not returned to the sender at inmates' cost, the original mail will be destroyed in accordance with our policies.
